How to Get InvolvedGo Abroad

Have you ever dreamed of living in a foreign country? Well, AFS students live those dreams! 10,000 students and teachers are placed worldwide by AFS into homes, schools, and communities which they grow to love as their very own.

You should know from the start that AFS is a unique exchange organization. Over 100,000 volunteers across the globe work hard to make sure students are placed with families that share common interests, backgrounds, and lifestyles. AFS volunteers are trained to make careful, compatible placements, and are ALWAYS there to support you. This is a VERY IMPORTANT fact about AFS!

If you are a high school student, you can contact the AFS Club Sponsor or counselor at your school for more information. Alternatively, you can contact the Heartland AFS Team and describe your specific interest in AFS. We can provide you with further details about the application process, year-long exchanges, special summer programs, etc. You can also phone 1-800-AFS-INFO to speak to an AFS Returnee about your specific interests.
