10-18-2000: Tanner is up to 6 pounds 1 ounce as of
today.....This equates to a 40 gram gain a day since coming home,
which is 10 more than they hope for......His doctor's appointment
went very well today, and the NICU nurses were very excited to see
him....You can tell they really enjoy seeing the successes.
10-2-2000: (from Robert) "Tanner is doing well, eating
more than his goal, and going thru diapers at an alarming rate. We
brought him home Tuesday Sept. 26th, and have been loving every
minute of it. We hope to venture out of the house next week,
perhaps to church next Sunday. Thanks to everyone who has been so
great, with meals, prayers, and gifts."
9-21-2000: Tanner continues to do very well. He has
been moved from the incubator to a regular bed this week, and
continues to gain weight. Mother and Father continue to visit him
regularly throughout the day and night. Pictures
from Sept 19th are online.
9-13-2000: (from Robert) "Shelly was discharged from
the hospital today, and I finally got her home about 10 pm. It was
extremely hard to leave Tanner there, as we had been dreaming all
along about going to the hospital and leaving with a baby. Shelly
has had a pretty rough time, but she is climbing out of it. We
have been spending almost every moment with Tanner in the NICU
unit, and have gotten quite adept at getting his vitals, changing
diapers, etc. We will get to bathe him again tomorrow, and that is
usually good for some good screams.....He is doing quite well, and
has increased his breastmilk intake from 2cc's on Sunday Night to
15 tonite.....eight times a day. He has yet to lose any weight, as
they say almost all preemies do. We are working on teaching him
how to nurse, and Shelly had been doing an incredible job at the
breastfeeding thing. I must admit, my wife is incredibly strong."
Tanner's pictures from September 13th
are still available.
9-11-2000: Mom, baby, and Dad are all doing great.
Tanner has not had to be on a ventilator at all, which is
extraordinary for a little guy his age. The xrays today show that
his lungs are fully developed, which is super news and an
answer to prayers. Why no pictures of Shelly yet? She was eating
when the photographer visited NICU today, so Robert was our tour
guide. Tanner's pictures from
September 11th are still available.
